Abstract: ［Abstract］Objective　To observe and compare the effect of laparoscopic appendectomy（LA）and open appendectomy（OA）in eldly patients with acute suppurative appendicitis．Methods　We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 20 cases of laparoscopic appendectomy and 22 cases of open appendectomy．We compared the differences between the two methods in the average incision size，operation time，ambulation time，postoperative pain relievers utilization rate，postoperative anal exhaust time，incision infection rates，hospitalization time and hospitalization total cost．Results　There were significant differences between laparoscopic appendectomy and open appendectomy in these indexes（P＜0.05），except the operation time and hospitalization total cost（P＞0.05）．Conclusion　Compared with open appendectomy，laparoscopic appendectomy has much better effects for the eldly patients with acute suppurative appendicitis because of its advantages of minimal invasion，early recovery and few complications.
