Abstract: Objective To explore the clinical value of endoscopic minimally invasive treatment for odontogenic maxillary sinus diseases. Methods From March 2010 to April 2016, 43 patients with odontogenic maxillary sinus diseases were randomly divided into A and B groups according to the order of treatment. Group A(n= 22) and group B(n = 21). Group A was treated with endoscopic minimally invasive surgery. Group B was treated with conventional open procedure. The operation time and intra-operative blood loss were compared between the two groups. Postoperative facial swelling subsided time, facial numbness and hospital costs, postoperative satisfaction and other indicators were also compared. Results Compared with Group B, the operation time was shorter(P<0.05), bleeding volume was less(P<0.05), and the time of facial swelling was shorter after operation(P<0.05,) the hospitalization cost was lower(P<0.05), the postoperative satisfaction was higher(P<0.05) in Group A(P<0.05). Conclusions Endoscopic surgery is more effective than traditional open surgery in the treatment of odontogenic maxillary sinus surgery. The former has the advantages of shorter operative time, less blood loss, rapider postoperative recovery, lower incidence of complications and lower hospitalization cost.
