Correlation between AASI and baPWV, PPI in Elderly Patients with Essential Hypertension

［Abstract］Objective　To investigate the relationship between the level of AASI and baPWV，PPI and explore the meaning of these indexes for arteriosclerosis assessment in elderly hypertensive patients. Methods Eighty-nine elderly essential hypertension patients who were outpatients and inpatients in our hospital were included in this study from May 2014 to February 2015. Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and noninvasive arteriosclerosis detection were measured and the relationship between AASI and baPWV，PPI was also analyzed. Results　The level of baPWV of 89 patients was（1603.41±19.84）cm/s，AASI was（0.61±0.15），and PPI was （0.44±0.06）. Spearman correlation analysis showed that AASI was negatively correlated with the average diastolic blood pressure（r = 0.157，P < 0.05）. BaPWV，PPI，mean arterial blood pressure and mean systolic blood pressure was positively correlated with AASI （r = 0.685，0.701，0.648，0.701，P < 0.01）. AASI，baPWV and PPI had higher correlation coefficient．Conclusion　AASI can reflect the extent of atherosclerosis，and BaPWV and PPI may increase with the increase of AASI.
