Effects of Fixed Temporary Crown and Bridge and Splint Removable Partial Denture on Occlusal Reconstruction

［Abstract］Objective The study was aimed to determine a better way in transitional occlusal reconstruction by comparing the restorative effects of fixed temporary crown and bridge or splint removable partial dentures. Methods Fixed temporary crown and bridge and splint removable partial denture for dentition defect were used as transitional restorative ways of severe abrasion to restore 1/3 vertical distance of patients temporarily，recover occlusal relationship， and improve joint symptoms. The effects of the two ways were observed by follow-up. Results After wearing the two prosthesis， patients consciously feel comfortable without pain. The two ways could improve beauty of face and masticatory function and eliminate food impaction， but the fixed temporary crown and bridge was more effective in improving masticatory function than splint removable partial dentures. Conclusion Temporary crown and bridge repair was superior to splint fixed pad removable partial denture in improving masticatory function in patients.
