Effect of Fuzhengguben Jelly on Hypothalamus-adrenal Cortex System of Rats

［Abstract］Objective　To investigate the effect of Fuzhengguben Jelly on rat hypothalamus-adrenal cortex system．Methods　SD rats were administered with hydrocortisone to induce kidney yang deficiency and Fuzhengguben jelly for treatment for continuousl 35 days. The body weight was weighed every one week. On day 17， 10-mg sterile cotton balls were implanted in both forelimb footpaths of the animals. At the end of the experiment， the rats were anesthetized and the the left adrenal glands removed followed by ACTH attack immediately. After another 15 min，the right adrenal glands were removed. Then the blood was collected and plasma CORT was measured. The tampon granulation，thymus，adrenal gland were also removed and weighed. Meanwhile， the difference in Vc content of the both adrenal glands was analyzed. Results（1）From the first week after modeling， the weights of the animals in model group and treatment group were significantly decreased， and dull hair and hunch back were observed，suggesting a obvious symptoms of kidney yang deficiency.（2）After treatment for 35 days， the various doses of Fuzhengguben jelly markedly suppressed rat thymus. There were no significant differences in tampon granuloma dry and wet weight between the model group and the Fuzhengguben jelly group. （3）In addition， Fuzhengguben jelly and positive drug remarkably elevated the Vc content difference between the left and the right adrenal gland，and had significant effect on CORT. Conclusions Fuzhengguben jelly has significant effects on immune and hypothalamus-adrenal cortex systems of the rats.
