Effects of Comprehensive Nursing Care on Patients with Colon Cancer in Perioperative Period

    Abstract
  • Objective To evaluate the clinical effects of comprehensive nursing care on the complications, postoperative recovery, quality of life and satisfaction in patients with colon cancer in perioperative period. Methods Patients (n=40) were divided into observation group and control group according to nursing methods. Patients in control group were treated with routine nursing and the observation group received comprehensive nursing intervention on the basis of routine nursing. The incidence of complication, postoperative recovery, quality of life and satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Results The incidence of complication in the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group (P<0.05) . The first exhaust time, first postoperative defecation time, postoperative off-bed activity time and average hospital stay time in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05) . The Gastrointestinal Quality of Life Index (GIQLI) scores in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group in week 1, week 2 and week 4 after the operation (P<0.05) . The satisfaction rate and satisfaction score in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05) . Conclusion Comprehensive nursing care can significantly reduce the incidence of complications, speed up the recovery of patients, reduce hospitalization time, and improve the quality of life and the satisfaction of patients with colon cancer. It is worthy to be extensively applied.
