Correlative Studies between MMP1 Gene Polymorphism and the Risk of Oral Squamous Cell Carcinomas among Han Nationality in Yunnan Province

  • Objective To explore the correlation between MMP1 gene polymorphisms and risk of oral squamous cell carcinomas among Han nationality in Yunnan province and to provide experimental reference for discovery and screening of susceptibility genes of oral squamous carcinoma.Methods Polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) was applied to detect individual MMP1 promoter-1607 1G/2G loci single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) in patients with oral squamous cell carcinomas and control group. The genotype of the patients with oral squamous carcinoma was obtained and compared with that in the control group. Results The genotype frequencies of MMP1 promoter-1607 1G/2G, 1G/1G, 2G/2G, 1G/2G were 11.11% and37.04%, 51.85% and 5.66%, 43.40% and 50.94% in control group and case group respectively. There was no significant difference between MMP1 SNP and the risk of oral squamous cell carcinomas (P>0.05) . No significant difference was found when MMP1 SNP was compared with high, medium and low differentiation of oral squamous cell carcinomas (P>0.05) . Conclusion There is no correlation between MMP1 promoter-1607 1G/2G loci SNP and the risk of oral squamous carcinoma among Han nationality in Yunnan province.
