Clinical Analysis of the Effect of Preoperative Multi-frequency Steady State Potential Residual Hearing on Speech Recovery after Cochlear Surgery

  • Objective To investigate the effect of multi-frequency steady state potential of high frequency and low frequency residual hearing on speech recovery after cochlear implantation.Methods We retrospectively analyzed 102 cases of children with severe or extremely severe sensorineural deafness and Residual hearing found in preoperative ASSR in Kunming children's Hospital from January 2014 to January 2016.Speech Intelligibility Rating (SIR) was used to evaluate the effects of preoperative high frequency and low frequency residual hearing on SIR after 1 years of cochlear implant training.Results The ASSR high-frequency group (1.0, 2.0 kHz) after 1 years of language training speech intelligibility rating score was (3.93±0.8) , and low frequency group (0.5, 1.0 kHz) after 1 years of language training speech intelligibility rating score was (3.20±0.94) and between the high frequency group and low frequency group was statistically significant (P<0.05) .Conclusions Children with high frequency residual hearing before surgery have better postoperative speech recovery than those with low frequency residual hearing before operation.Therefore, it can be concluded that high frequency residual hearing is more favorable for speech recovery after cochlear implantation.
