Comparison of Case-based Learning and Traditional Teaching Method in Medical English Teaching

  • Objective To measure the effect of case-based learning (CBL) method in medical English teaching and explore its the feasibility. Methods 127 fourth-grade undergraduate students, majoring in clinical medicine, were randomly allocated into two groups: group A (n=67) taught in traditional methods and group B (n=60) taught in CBL methods. At the completion of teaching, examination and satisfaction questionnaire were applied to measure the outcome of teaching in two groups. T-test and Chi-square test were employed in data analysis.Results The examination scores of group B was higher than that of group A (P<0.05) . The degree of satisfaction of group B was higher than that of group A (P<0.05) . Conclusion CBL teaching methods can improve the quality of medical English teaching and students' satisfaction.
