Application of Cluster Nursing in Mechanical Ventilation Treatment of HIV Infection Complicated with Pulmonary Tuberculosis

  • Objective To investigate the clinical effects of cluster nursing in mechanical ventilation treatment of HIV infection complicated by pulmonary tuberculosis. Methods A total of 68 patients with HIV infection complicated with pulmonary tuberculosis were treated with mechanical ventilation and randomly divided into observation group and control group. The control group received routine nursing while the observation group received cluster nursing based on routine nursing. Mortality rate, mechanical ventilation time, the incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) and incidence of pneumothorax were observed. Results The mortality rate in the observation group was 26.47% while it was 52.94% in the control group. The mechanical ventilation time in the observation group was 8.94 d while it was 13.35 d in the control group. The incidence of VAP in observation group was 8.82% while it was 23.53% in the control group. The incidence of pneumothorax in observation group was 2.94% while it was 14.70% in the control group. Conclusion Cluster nursing can effectively reduce the mortality rate, the incidence of VAP and incidence of pneumothorax, cut the mechanical ventilation time and improve the prognosis of the patients.
